Every NFL team, S through F, after Week 3

Rankings 1 through 32 pretend the gap between 11 and 14 means something. It doesn't. Tiers are honest about it.

  • S: Bills, 49ers
  • A: Chiefs, Vikings, Raiders, Jaguars, Ravens
  • B: Eagles, Lions, Seahawks, Broncos, Bengals, Steelers, Bears, Browns
  • C: Giants, Rams, Falcons, Packers, Panthers, Cowboys, Patriots, Jets, Saints, Cardinals, Colts
  • D: Commanders, Buccaneers, Chargers, Texans
  • F: Titans, Dolphins

The placements people will fight about

Chiefs in A, not S. 3-0 and they've needed overtime against an 0-2 team and beaten Miami by two touchdowns. Undefeated isn't the same as dominant.
Raiders in A. Three straight wins, one on the road, and Kirk Cousins has nine touchdowns. Put the preseason opinion down.
Eagles in B. They lost to a Bears team starting Case Keenum and scored seven. Two good wins keep them out of C, barely.
Browns in B. A road upset in Tampa and a win over Carolina. Not good, but no longer a joke.
Commanders in D at 1-2. Their win was 33-31 over Seattle with a pick-six doing the heavy lifting. The other two were division games they lost.

What separates the tiers

  • S: you'd pick them against anybody right now. Buffalo has 101 points, San Francisco is 3-0 with a 20-point defense.
  • A: real teams with a real flaw. Kansas City can't pull away, Baltimore lost at home to a rookie quarterback.
  • B: good on their best day, beatable on their worst, which is most of the league.
  • C: you cannot predict them week to week, and neither can they.
  • D and F: something structural is wrong. Miami has scored 10, 13 and 13.
